Come celebrate with us the beginning of higher education in Estonian!
On 1 December, the traditional anniversary ball marking the 105th anniversary of Estonia’s national university will take place in Vanemuine Concert Hall. Doors are open from 18:30. The dress code is black tie.
During the evening, you can capture joyful memories at the photo wall and in the photo booth, take part in a raffle, and be ready for surprises. As part of the anniversary year, we travel back in time and bring the atmosphere of the 1920s to the ballroom. So, you can unleash your creativity and add something true to the era to your ball attire.
The headliner of the ball is the Estonian band Trad.Attack! who has made it their mission to constantly challenge themselves, to be dedicated and to surprise not only their fans but themselves as well. In nine years, the band has released five studio and three digital albums, all of which open up a world of complexities. Trad.Attack!'s work and activities have been recognised and honoured in Estonia with 30 music awards, including Band of The Year and Album of The Year.
Besides Trad.Attack! the band Tailor Made will perform at the ball. Tailor Made is a party band consisting of professional musicians and Siret Tuula. In addition, the lineup includes Toomas Leis on the bass guitar, Jörgen Pakkas on electric and acoustic guitars and Siim Jõgioja on drums! The band's repertoire is like a tailor's cut of the best Estonian and foreign dance hits over the decades.
The University of Tartu Symphony Orchestra and Folk Dance Ensemble of Tartu University will also perform at the ball. The Folk Dance Ensemble is Estonia's oldest and largest folk dance ensemble and the leader and keeper of Estonian folk culture since 1945. Under the guidance of the ensemble at the ball, you can also dance some folk dances yourself.
